Food Blogger Bake Sale {Recap}

On Saturday, May 14th a variety of Central Florida food bloggers got together to bake for a cause. That cause? Share Our Strength is a national nonprofit that is ending childhood hunger in America!

We hosted our Great American Bake Sale at the Cork & Olive store front in Lake Mary, Florida. We raised over $500 in a little over 2 hours in baked good sales alone. We also had an additonal $600 raised in ordered baked goods, and roughly $200 in cash donations... giving us a grand total of over $1,300! Last year Central Florida bloggers made less than $500 all together. Nationally, among food bloggers we raised over $24,500 total!

Here is a picture of just a few of the food bloggers who participated at the bake sale (this picture was taken towards the end of the day). Pictured left to right: The Mega Yummo crew, Robbin, Jim, Julie, Aggie, and Me

I made my famous Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes and a variety of vanilla and chocolate sugar cookies

An aerial view of my cupcakes and cookies!

Up close and personal with my sugar cookies!

Wesh 2 meteorologist, Amy Sweezey, stopped by our bake sale with her children. I was happy to see that the first baked goods her children grabbed were my sugar cookies!

Chef Holly brought mini apple pie's on a stick!

Aggie from Aggie's Kitchen was one of the two organizers for the Central Florida bake sale. Here is one of her many lovely displays (with a few of my cookies mixed in)!

Aggie's Key Lime cakes had sold out in less than an hour!

Julie, from The Little Kitchen, aka our organizer made these amazing Peanut Butter Cup Cupcakes. Yes, that's right, a peanut butter cup is stuffed inside each cupcake PLUS one on top!

Dawn, from Wicked Good Dinner, made these organic Coconut Shortbread Cookies. I just loved the packaging!!!

Here is Miss Jaclyn from Food plus Words. She was serving up some of the most amazing caramel (ooeey gooey) brownies, ever. She also made some lovely scones, including these lemon lavender scones

How awesome was her set up? I was super jealous... she rocked it (not gonna lie)!

Jim, from Comfort in Crumbs, made us food bloggers an amazing pear tart! That ultimately became lunch!

One of the many things Jim brought was Chunky Lolas. Not pictured, were his AMAZING pina colada biscotti!!! I'm still waiting for a recipe from him... words can not express how amazing they are!

An anonymous baker stopped by our bake sale and brought cupcakes to donate. She had heard about the bake sale via twitter! How awesome is that?

Pearleen, from Mega Yummo had two tables full of baked goods and raised over $600 in presale orders!

A little girl enjoyed a cake pop from Mega Yummo. Savoring the remainder of the cake in her hand!

Robin, (who does not have a blog yet) made some amazing cookies and scones. You can follower Robbin on Twitter: @SimplySoBaking
Wanda, from My Sweet Zepol participated in our bake sale, too!

Suzanne, made these amazing Waffle Cone Bowls (and some pretty delicious vanilla w/ strawberry filled whoopie pies)!

We received quite a few donations from amazing companies like The Mommies - A Musical Blog, LaserDerm Medspa, Disney, Dunkin Donuts, etc

And... here is the extra large basket of baked goods I brought home from the bake sale!
Everything was beyond delicious!

  2. Hey Katie! What a great write-up. The shots look fabulous.

It was so nice meeting you at the Bake Sale in person and hanging out with you as much as we did. We definitely need to organize the blueberry picking get together 'cause it sounds like fun!

Oh and the Pina Colada recipes are in draft form right now on my blog, just editing my pictures.
